WHY JOIN LIONS?
Being a Lion means that you never have to see a man, woman or child go without the gift of sight, and know there is nothing you can do to help.
Being a Lion means you are willing to help your neighbor when they find themselves in a position that could jeopardize the health and well being of their family.
Being a Lion is knowing that every year, you do your part to make your neighborhood, your community, and your state a better place to live.
Being a Lion means that you can help ensure that no needy man, woman or child goes without eyeglasses and that you have a role in ensuring that no one ever suffers preventable blindness.
Being a Lion ensures that no person is in need of services that could be provided if only someone took the time to care.
These things ARE possible when YOU make the effort to help and when YOU give of yourself.
This is why you should consider becoming a Lion.

WHY JOIN PAWLEYS ISLAND LIONS?
Membership in the PAWLEYS ISLAND LIONS CLUB is special and by invitation only. This does not mean that we are “elitist” by any means - - we openly welcome all individuals, of any race, sex, or ethnicity who are energetic, charitable, have good moral character and integrity, and who want to “make a difference” in our community.
Membership in the PAWLEYS ISLAND LIONS CLUB is an excellent way to meet new friends, and enjoy the fellowship of others in the community, while lending a helping hand to those in need.
Membership in the PAWLEYS ISLAND LIONS CLUB provides an environment for hard work, while having fun while serving! Is this the ideal situation or what?
If your goals are in accord with those of Lions International (as printed at the top of this page), and if you can ascribe to the Lions Code of Ethics, printed below, and if you WANT to “make a difference” and enjoy comradeship and fun while doing it, then you are a good candidate for membership in the PAWLEYS ISLAND LIONS CLUB.
-O- LIONS CODE OF ETHICS To SHOW my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
To SEEK success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
To REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
WHENEVER a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards my fellow men, to resolve such doubt against myself.
To HOLD friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
ALWAYS bear in mind my obligation to my nation, my state and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor, and means.
To AID my fellow men by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
